DiceArena Launches at paf.com
Date Added: November 12, 2008
Since the inception of online casinos craps was the only dice game on offer. Then, earlier this year, the Nordic based Jadestone Networks announced that its network for multiplayer dice games was ready. The network was appropriately called DiceArena. From time to time news filtered that arrangements have been worked out with various operators and that the games would be offered to players soon.
Now the first of the operators, paf.com, has completed the integration process of the DiceArena network with its existing system and players can start playing the dice games on offer. At the launch Robert Henrysson, Chief Executive Officer of Jadestone, lauded the team effort behind DiceArena “from development to integration, operations and marketing.” paf.com is the first online casino to show a separate portal for “Dice” on its menu along with Casino, Poker, Betting and Bingo. The other partners of Jadestone are also almost ready with DiceArena and should be launching anytime.
Two games and a number of tournaments are available in the initial offering. The games are Shoot the Moons and Dice Hold’em. Both are poker style betting games with bluffing and pots. The objective of Shoot the Moons is to get the highest number of points from six dice over three rounds. However if the player rolls two threes in the last round, he Shoots the Moons and automatically wins half the pot. Dice Hold’em is modeled on Texas Hold’em and the play structure is similar. Instead of playing cards with thirteen different icons the players use dice with six different icons – the numbers 1 to 6. The dice rankings are like hand rankings with five of a kind or yatzee being the highest. This is followed by four of a kind, full house, straight, three of a kind, two pairs and one pair. ‘Flush’ is the absentee because there are no suits. Jadestone have promised to introduce Liar’s Dice, also known as Perudo, early in 2009. This game was immortalized by Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean and will be a huge draw. Backgammon is also included in the future plans.
The dice portal at paf.com is pretty exhaustive. This being the first dice portal the rules and procedures of the games and the tournaments are explained in detail. The Dice FAQs section answers questions about the site ownership, security and technical issues. An interesting section is the Dice History. It traces the history of dice games from the 5,000 year old backgammon to the modern Ludo and Monopoly. Those who are a bit apprehensive about the dice games can start playing for free. Like most online casinos paf.com offers players avatars and this will add spice to the gaming.
