Minimum Casino System Requirements

Date Added: March 4, 2009

Online gaming software providers do their best to provide players with an exciting and enjoyable gaming experience. However this experience is possible only if the user’s computer system has the minimum requirements specified by the software provider. Different online gaming software providers specify different system requirements, primarily because of the difference in the number of games on offer. The minimum system requirements for some of the major online gaming software providers are compared below.

Microgaming:

  • Pentium III 800 MHz processor or greater
  • 128 MB of system memory available
  • 32 MB of video memory
  • 800 x 600 video resolution (16 bit color)
  • 500 MB of available hard drive space
  • Internet access with at least 56 KBps connection speed

Vegas Technology:

  • Windows 98/NT/2000/Millennium Edition/XP/Vista
  • Pentium 200 MHz
  • 64 MB RAM
  • 16-bit color video card (800x600 resolution mode)
  • 100 MB free hard drive space

Playtech:

  • Windows Vista/XP/2000/98/NT/95
  • P166MMX
  • 32MB RAM
  • 16-bit color
  • 20MB free hard disk space

Cryptologic:

  • Windows 98 or higher
  • Pentium 200 MHz or higher
  • 48 MB RAM
  • 4 MB video card with 16-bit color (800x600 or higher)
  • DirectX 7 or higher
  • Macromedia Flash 5 (or higher)
  • 35 MB hard drive space

Real Time Gaming:

  • Pentium II 300
  • 64 MB memory
  • 56K modem connection (connected at minimum speed of 40K)
  • Windows 95/98/NT/XP/2000
  • Flash plug-in

The above are the minimum system requirements. If the user’s system does not meet with these requirements then the software will not run. With these requirements the software will run but the gaming experience will not be perfect. For example if the RAM memory is just complied with the game speeds could be very slow. If the monitor resolution is just as specified the quality of some of the graphics may suffer.

Usually the online gaming software providers specify a set of recommended user specifications. CasinoAdvisor suggests that players ensure that their system matches with these specifications if they want a really good gaming experience. If the player is buying a new computer system he should buy the best in terms of specifications of the system. The minimum and the recommended requirements will increase as more games or more features are added. It is not practical to upgrade the system every time the software provider changes the requirements. Hence it is best to have some cushion available.

Although the speaker and the sound card specifications are not usually mentioned, CasinoAdvisor suggests that good speakers and the best sound card are installed. Online casino games are no longer only a visual experience. Slots have a lot of sound effects that enhance the theme. Games like roulette and blackjack have voice effects that simulate real casino environments.
